ZONALITERASI.ID – Pengembangan literasi menjadi salah satu hal yang sangat penting untuk mendukung tumbuh kembang anak. Dalam posisi inilah orang tua menunjukkan peranannya.
Sebagai pendidik utama dan pertama bagi anak-anak, orang tua berperan sebagai pendukung utama dalam membangun minat anak terhadap membaca dan pengembangan keterampilan literasi. Diperlukan upaya dari lingkungan terdekat dalam pendampingan anak agar memiliki kemampuan literasi yang baik.
Melansir hasil penelitian yang dilakukan dosen UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, Devi Meilasari dan Raden Rachmy Diana, Jumat, 27 OKtober 2023, peran orang tua dalam menumbuhkan literasi pada anak, di antaranya:
1. Orang tua membiasakan membacakan buku kepada anak.
Orang tua dapat membaca bersama anak-anak mereka sejak usia dini. Aktivitas ini tidak hanya memperkuat ikatan emosional antara orang tua dan anak, tetapi juga membantu anak mengembangkan cinta terhadap membaca dan menumbuhkan kebiasaan membaca yang positif. Cara lain yang dapat dilakukan yaitu orang tua dapat mendongeng untuk anak sebelum tidur;
2. Orang tua memiliki jadwal yang teratur untuk belajar maupun bermain pada anak.
Orang tua dapat mengajak anak untuk berdiskusi tentang buku yang mereka baca. Diskusi ini akan membantu anak mengembangkan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang cerita, karakter, dan tema yang ada dalam buku, serta meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi dan pemikiran kritis mereka.
3. Orang tua menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang menarik dan menyenangkan.
Orang tua dapat menyediakan berbagai jenis buku di rumah dan memberikan buku-buku yang sesuai dengan minat dan tingkat perkembangan mereka. Dengan memahami minat anak, orang tua dapat membantu anak menemukan buku-buku yang menarik dan memotivasi mereka untuk terus membaca;
4. Memberikan reward sebagai wujud apresiasi kepada anak.
Reward yang diberikan orang tua kepada anak akan membekas pada diri anak. Sebagai individu, anak merasa dihargai. Yang lebih penting lagi, anak akan lebih termotivasi untuk mencintai bacaan;
5. Orang tua harus menjadi suri tauladan bagi anak.
Orang tua dapat menjadi contoh yang baik dengan menunjukkan minat dan kecintaan mereka terhadap membaca. Dengan melihat orang tua membaca, anak akan melihatnya sebagai aktivitas yang menyenangkan dan bernilai, dan akan lebih termotivasi untuk mengikutinya.
“Anak yang mendapat peranan orang tua lebih dapat memiliki peluang untuk berkembang lebih baik dalam literasi dari pada anak yang kurang mendapat peranan dari orang tuanya,” demikian kesimpulan penelitian itu. (des)***
