ZONALITERASI.ID – Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI) menciptakan alat untuk mendeteksi pencemaran dengan menggunakan teknologi sensor solid-state. Model pemantauan pencemaran secara online ini dapat digunakan sebagai sistem peringatan dini (Early Warning System)”.

Goib Wiranto dari Pusat Elektronika dan Telekomunikasi Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI), mengatakan, dalam sistem pemantauan pencemaran secara daring atau online, sensor memegang peranan utama yang mempunyai fungsi sebagai tempat terjadinya interaksi langsung dengan bahan pencemar yang akan dideteksi.

“Sensor ini diharapkan dapat memberikan data mengenai bahan pencemar sehingga dapat segera ditangani sebelum dampak pencemaran semakin meluas. Pemantauan pencemaran secara online juga memiliki banyak keunggulan dibanding pemantauan secara konvensional,” kata Goib, saat orasi pengukuhan Profesor Riset LIPI bidang Elektronika, dilansir dari laman LIPI, Minggu (19/12/2021).

“Data hasil pengukuran dari sensor harus dapat digunakan oleh pemangku kepentingan untuk mengambil keputusan terkait mitigasi bencana pencemaran. Di lain pihak, masyarakat juga harus diberikan akses atas informasi pencemaran yang terkait dengan wilayah kehidupannya,” terangnya.

Ia menuturkan, di antara berbagai teknologi sensor pencemaran air di seluruh dunia, teknologi solid state mempunyai keunggulan tersendiri yaitu bentuknya yang praktis, cara kerjanya yang sederhana, dan dapat dibuat untuk mendeteksi beberapa parameter secara sekaligus.

Diterangkannya, penguasaan metode rancang bangun sensor tetap dibutuhkan untuk mengurang ketergantungan dan sekaligus meningkatkan kemandirian dalam bidang teknologi sensor untuk pemantauan online.

“Teknologi mikroelektronika mempunyai peranan penting dalam mengatasi persoalan lingkungan melalui sensor-sensor solid state yang diimplementasikan dalam sistem pemantauan pencemaran secara online. Oleh karena itu penelitian dan pengembangan sensor lingkungan yang berbasis pada teknologi Thin-Film, Thick-Film, dan teknologi Micromachining/MEMs harus terus dilakukan di tengah banyaknya impor di pasar dalam negeri,” cetusnya.

Goib menambahkan, dalam situasi keterbatasan infrastruktur fabrikasi sensor di tanah air saat ini, maka teknik-teknik yang bersifat tarif rendah (low-cost) harus menjadi pilihan utama dalam hal-hal berikut seperti sol gel untuk sintesa nanomaterial, teknologi thick-film untuk sensor kualitas air, dan teknologi thin-film serta MEMs untuk sensor kualitas udara.

“Selain itu teknologi micromachining/MEMs berbahan silikon masih berpotensi besar di masa mendatang, untuk itu perlu penguasaan teknologi pengolahan bahan baku silikon agar alat yang dihasilkan memiliki nilai tambah secara ekonomi,” pungkasnya (gib)***
