MENJELANG Maghrib Taufik baru sampai di Kutoarjo. Perjalanan masih jauh, baru setengahnya. Sebelum menuju rumahnya Taufik masih mengemban satu tugas dari bu Anik. “Tolong sampaikan titipan ibu ke Giri Salam.” Bu Anik mengulurkan sebuah kotak entah berisi apa ke tangan Taufik. Baunya yang wangi segar, mengingatkan Taufik pada bau buah salak. Tapi ini kotak itu jelas bukan salak, mengingat bobotnya yang begitu ringan.

Mata Taufik masih menelusuri papan nama yang banyak terdapat di wilayah perumahan baru itu namun tak satu pun papan bertuliskan “Giri Salam” sesuai pesan bu Anik. Warna senja kian memudar seiring terbenamnya matahari. Tiba-tiba bahunya ditepuk oleh seseorang, “Mas, mari kuantar ke Giri Salam.”

Taufik mengikuti langkah kaki lelaki yang baru dikenalnya. Lelaki yang aneh ini lebih mirip pengantin daripada seseorang yang hanya bermaksud jalan-jalan. Bau tubuhnya wangi beraroma angsoka. Taufik ingat kotak titipan bu Anik yang tersimpan di dalam tas punggungnya. Baunya persis dengan aroma parfum lelaki yang belum dikenalnya ini. Lelaki itu berjalan dengan langkah ringan, lebih mirip gerakan melayang. Taufik teringat jurus-jurus Kung Fu yang dimainkan oleh bintang film Jet Lee.

Rumah yang mereka tuju terkesan meriah. Bunga-bunga yang dipasang sedemikian rupa memenuhi dinding rumah berwarna putih. Ada pelaminan di bagian tengah ruangan yang lagi-lagi dihiasi dengan kuntum-kuntum bunga angsoka. Taufik dipersilahkan duduk di salah satu kursi undangan. Suasana meriah itu terasa senyap bagi Taufik. Entahlah, mungkin indera pendengarannya sedang terganggu karena udara dingin. Tak sebuah suara pun mampir di gendang telinganya meskipun para tamu terlihat ramai bercakap-cakap.

Lelaki yang menjemput Taufik tadi sore menghampiri tempat duduknya dan memberikan isyarat. Taufik memahaminya. Dibukanya tas punggungnya dan dikeluarkannya kotak yang berisi titipan bu Anik. Lelaki yang belakangan diketahui bernama Afei itu perlahan membuka kotak. Tampak sekuntum angsoka mekar sempurna mengeluarkan aroma khasnya yang menusuk hidung.

Iring-iringan mempelai wanita diiringi bridesmaid memasuki ruangan. Kuntum angsoka titipan bu Anik menghiasi sanggul cantik mempelai wanita. Meski hanya sanggul sederhana namun tampak menambah pesona wajah cantik yang selalu menunduk. Ketika rombongan gadis cantik itu melintas di dekat mejanya, Taufik terkesiap. Wajah mempelai wanita terasa akrab dengan kesehariannya namun Taufik tak mampu mengingatnya.

Pesta telah usai. Tetamu mulai meninggalkan tempat resepsi. Taufik masih belum tahu harus berpamitan kepada siapa. Tiba-tiba Afei menghampiri, “Mas, mari kuantar keluar dari tempat ini.” Sambil mengamit tangan Taufik, Afei berpesan kepada rombongan gadis cantik untuk menjaga istrinya. Lalu Afei menggandeng tangan Taufik, seolah-olah sebuah perintah agar Taufik menurut kepadanya. Baru disadari oleh Taufik, tangan Afei begitu dingin. Karena dinginnya sampai Taufik tak merasakan denyut nadi pergelangan tangannya.

Setengah melayang mereka menembus pekatnya malam. Taufik tidak tahu apakah ini jalan yang mereka lalui tadi sore atau bukan. Seandainya tak diantarkan oleh Afei, tentu Taufik tak dapat menentukan arah jalan pulang. Dari jarak sepuluh meter, Taufik melihat motornya dituntun oleh seorang tukang parkir. Tampak dari warna seragamnya yang mudah dikenali sebagaimana tukang parkir yang sering bertugas di pertokoan.

“Sampaikan salamku untuk bu Anik. Dan ingat, jangan pernah menengok ke belakang!” pesan Afei menggenggam erat tangan Taufik. Kali ini hawa dingin semakin terasa terutama di tengkuk Taufik. Sambil menyimpan sejuta tanya Taufik menerima motornya dari tukang parkir itu. Mesin motor telah dinyalakan sebelum Taufik sempat merogoh kunci kontak di saku celananya. Perlahan Taufik menjalankan motornya diiringi lambaian tangan dan senyum ramah kedua orang itu.

Baru dalam hitungan detik Taufik merasakan perubahan drastis. Suasana terang yang dilihatnya sejak dari tempat resepsi mendadak gelap tanpa cahaya. Suasana meriah mendadak senyap. Tiba-tiba lampu motor Taufik menyorot ke arah sebuah tulisan “Kompleks Pemakaman Giri Salam”. Seketika Taufik menengok ke arah sekelilingnya. Tanpa sengaja Taufik menengok ke belakang dan tampaklah dua kepala manusia tengah meringis mengawal kepergiannya. Tubuh Taufik gemetar. Keringat dingin membasahi sekujur tubuhnya. Tulang-belulangnya terasa lemas. Terdengar bisikan Afei di telinganya, “Pergilah sekarang! Jangan menunggu terlalu lama!”

Dengan sisa-sisa tenaga yang dimilikinya, Taufik menggeber laju motornya. Bau menyengat bunga angsoka masih mengikutinya sampai ke perbatasan desa. Memasuki wilayah pasar Kutoarjo barulah Taufik merasakan kembali suasana normal. Pasar sangat sepi. Hanya beberapa pedagang sayuran yang sedang sibuk menyiapkan dagangannya. Ada sebuah warung kopi yang masih buka. Taufik pun menghentikan motornya dan memesan segelas kopi.

“Saking pundi, Mas?” Sapa penjual kopi berkumis tebal dalam bahasa Jawa sambil menjerang kopi pesanan Taufik. “Saking Giri Salam, Pak.” Lelaki berkumis tampak terkejut. Hampir saja gelas kopi panas di tangannya terjatuh. Namun orang itu segera dapat menguasai keadaan. Kopi yang disajikan sedikit tertumpah. “Ngapunten, Mas.” Sergahnya sambil bergegas mengelap tumpahan kopi di meja Taufik.

Sambil menyeruput kopi pesanannya Taufik berkisah tentang kunjungannya ke Giri Salam. Penjual kopi yang disapa Pak Kumis oleh para pedagang pasar menyimak dengan seksama. Seorang pedagang yang ingin memesan segelas kopi urung melakukan niatnya. Ia lebih tertarik pada cerita yang dipaparkan oleh Taufik. Sebagai gantinya ia meraih sebotol air mineral dan mengambil sepotong pisang goreng yang masih hangat.

“Sampeyan tahu ini jam berapa, Mas?” tanya pedagang sayuran itu sambil menenggak air mineralnya. Taufik berpikir sejenak. “Resepsinya berlangsung sekitar dua jam, Kang.” Pak Kumis melihat arloji yang melingkar di lengan kirinya. “Tapi sekarang sudah pukul tiga dini hari, Mas.” Sambil mengangsurkan lengannya ke arah Taufik. Giliran Taufik tersedak. Cepat-cepat Pak Kumis menyodorkan air mineral kemasan gelas. Taufik meminumnya perlahan sampai batuknya mereda.

“Jadi begini, Mas,” Pak Kumis mulai berkisah tentang Kompleks Pemakaman Giri Salam yang kerap memancing orang luar untuk datang ke resepsi pernikahan di alam gaib. “Seperti yang sampeyan alami, orang-orang yang diundang ke sana juga dititipi kotak berisi bunga angsoka oleh bu Anik. Lha, sampeyan ini siapanya bu Anik?” Pak Kumis kembali menegaskan. “Saya anak kos di rumah bu Anik.” Pak Kumis dan pedagang sayuran itu saling berpandangan.

Seketika sosok mereka berubah menjadi tengkorak.***
