SAMPURASUN, Sodara. Tak perlu musam-mesem lah. Judulnya memang lebay dan tak jelas apa maksudnya. Seolah maksa menghubungkan kata yang tidak ada hubungannya. Percayalah, ini hasil susah-payah merenung, mencoba mengekspresikan obrolan dengan juragan redaktur Zonaliterasi.id beberapa hari lalu. Katanya, menulis untuk media berbasis internet itu harus ramah SEM, harus SEO friendly dan apalagi yang dia sebutkan saya tidak ingat semua.

Saya tidak faham dengan segala macam sem dan seo. Untung saja tidak salah dengar menjadi séngséong, bisa berabe nanti. Pokoknya mah, kata juragan redaktur, Kita menulis téh pasti ingin tulisannya dibaca orang, sekurangnya dilihat. Nah, frasa ‘sekadar dilihat’ itulah yang jadi penentu.

Jika ingin dibaca, tentu harus terlihat. Jika ingin terlihat, harus muncul dulu ke permukaan, harus ada di deretan terdepan. Supaya ada di barisan terdepan, ya harus terpilih. Agar terpilih, ya harus dikenal. Lalu, bagaimana agar dikenal …? Harus dipromosikan lah.

Mempromosikan tulisan pada media berbasis internet bisa dengan cara memposisikan tulisan tersebut pada halaman terdepan mesin pencari. Umpamanya jika seseorang melakukan pencarian dengan kata kunci tertentu, maka sejumlah tulisan yang berhubungan akan dimunculkan oleh mesin pencari. Tentunya, siapapun yang memuat content, berharap contentnya itu muncul di halaman-halaman awal mesin pencari.

Saya mah tidak akan membahas cara kerja Search Engine Marketing atau Search Engine Optimization sebagai suatu cara mempromosikan website dan contentnya. Itu mah bagiannya pengelola website. Posisi saya content writer, bahasannya hanya seputar cara kerja Saya sendiri. Tapi jangan khawatir, saya tetap menggarisbawahi bahwa, content yang berada pada urutan terdepan mesin pencari, itu yang berpeluang besar dilihat dan dibaca orang banyak.

Tentu saya akan senang jika content yang saya buat ada di urutan terdepan. Pengelola website pun suka, sebab content yang banyak pengunjungnya berpotensi menjaga kelangsungan hidup website yang dikelolanya.

Jadi, kata juragan redaktur téh, untuk mengoptimasi content, buat saja tulisan yang mengandung topik dan keyword yang seo friendly. Keyword yang memenuhi syarat-syarat algoritma mesin pencari. Keyword yang berpotensi banyak dipakai para pencari ketika menggunakan mesin pencari. Buat frasa judul sebagai meta tag yang mudah dikenali mesin pencari dan menarik perhatian para pencari. Tapi jangan sampai melakukan keyword stuffing. Sebab menempatkan terlalu banyak keyword, malah akan dianggap spam oleh mesin pencari.

Sukur-sukur jika selalu bisa update dengan perubahan algoritma google. Sebab katanya, algoritma si Juragan Google pun suka berubah dan berkembang mengikuti perubahan prilaku manusia penggunanya.

Buat saja content-content yang sedang ramai diperbincangkan di dunia maya. Atau menghubung-hubungkan suatu peristiwa biasa dengan peristiwa yang viral, yang sedang trending di dunia maya. Tapi yang begini ini nih, yang seringkali membuat tulisan menjadi tidak jelas arah dan tujuannya. Menjadi tulisan yang sebenarnya tidak penting banget, tapi muncul ke permukaan.

Akan tetapi, kata juragan redaktur lagi, kita harus bertanggung jawab juga pada pembaca. Tidaklah baik jika hanya meraih trending di mesin pencari, tapi membuat kecewa para pembaca. Seringkali pembaca dongkol karena tulisan yang dicarinya tidak sesuai harapan. Ditambah pula dengan gaya penyajiannya yang buruk, hadeuh.

Pembaca pada umumnya ingin dimanjakan oleh tulisan yang kita sajikan. Umumnya mereka membaca di media internet itu sekilas saja. Bahkan seringkali dilewat-lewat pada bagian tententu yang dianggapnya menarik. Maka, banyak tulisan pada website yang cenderung menggunakan paragraf yang pendek-pendek saja.

Pembaca baru tertarik jika tulisan yang dilihatnya, terasa akan menyenangkan dan menghibur. Jika sudah tertarik, dia akan santai membaca, menikmati kalimat demi kalimat yang disajikan.

Akhirnya juragan redaktur berpesan, supaya tulisan yang seo friendly itu pun tetap nyastra. Entah yang bagaimana tulisan yang nyastra itu téh. Mungkin tulisan yang bergaya sastra, yang manis, yang mengalir, dan tidak kaku. Yang enak dibaca dan dirasa perlu. Yang … Yang seperti karya sastra lah. Yang bisa menarik perhatian dan menyajikan kenikmatan. Yang kata Tuan Horatius mah, yang memiliki fungsi dulce et utile. Yang bisa menghibur dan menyenangkan, sekaligus yang mampu mendidik para pembacanya.

Waduh … Banyak banget syaratnya ya? Kalau bagi Saya mah, syarat menulis itu cuma satu, yaitu hanya menuliskan apa yang kita ketahui saja. Segala macam Seo atau dulce et utile tidak akan berperan jika kita menuliskan sesuatu yang tidak kita ketahui. Sebab tulisannya tidak akan pernah jadi.

Tapi ujungnya tetap saja. Kita menulis téh ingin tulisannya dibaca orang dan berharap muncul di halaman terdepan mesin pencari. Nya kumaha baé lah carana, supaya gaya yang nyastra tetap kaudag, target SEO juga kaboro. ***
