Soal Khasiat Kokon Ulat Sutra untuk Bahan Kosmetik, Pakar dari IPB Bilang Begini

ZONALITERASI.ID – Kokon ulat sutra kerap dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku tekstil. Namun, ternyata kokon ulat sutra juga dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan kosmetik untuk perawatan kulit.

Dekan Fakultas Peternakan (Fapet) IPB University, Prof. Dr. Sumiati, mengaku penasaran dengan kokon ulat sutra yang bisa mempercantik kulit.

“Saya juga penasaran dengan kokon ulat sutra ini, kok bisa membuat kita cantik. Mudah-mudahan dengan webinar ini kita bisa mengulik lebih dalam tentang manfaat kokon ulat sutra bagi kecantikan,” kata Prof. Sumiati, dikutip dari laman IPB University, Senin (26/7/2021).

Soal manfaat kokon ulat sutra di bidang kosmetik ini, dosen IPB University dari Departemen Ilmu Produksi dan Teknologi Peternakan, Dr. Yuni Cahya Endarwati, menyebutkan, kokon ulat sutra memiliki komponen protein serisin. Komponen serisin sendiri mempunyai senyawa antioksidan yang bagus baik untuk makanan maupun kosmetik.

“Komponen serisin ini dikatakan hampir sama dengan kulit manusia. Kemampuannya seperti asam amino yang sama dengan presentase dan komposisi yang sama. Serisin ini juga membantu transepidermal water loss dari kulit, hampir sampai 85 persen sehingga dapat menjaga kelembaban kulit,” ujarnya.

Selain itu, serisin memiliki kandungan nutrisi yang baik dan bersifat edibel sehingga bisa langsung bisa dimanfaatkan maupun sebagai bahan komposit. Komponen serisin juga bisa sebagai koagulan. Sifat koagulan tersebut dimanfaatkan sebagai purifikasi air dan bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai pembersih muka dari kotoran yang menempel. Di samping itu, kokon ulat sutra juga berfungsi sebagai pelindung ultraviolet maupun senyawa kimia lainnya.

“Secara alamiah, kokon ini berfungsi sebagai pelindung pupa. Di alam bebas sana, stres dan cekamannya sangat banyak, mulai dari lingkungan maupun musuh yang dapat merusak kokon,” terang Yuni.

Secara khusus, kokon ulat sutra yang sudah diteliti dan bisa digunakan untuk kosmetik adalah kokon ulat sutra murbei (Bombix mori).

Pemakaian kokon ulat sutra untuk perawatan kulit yang mudah yaitu dengan merendam kokon selama 5-10 menit di dalam air panas. Lalu, kokon diletakkan di ujung jari, kemudian digunakan untuk memijat area wajah secara lembut selama 10-15 menit.

“Kalau perawatan, kita tidak bisa langsung mendapatkan hasilnya. Tidak bisa setelah pemakaian pertama kulitnya langsung kinclong, perlu waktu paling tidak tiga bulan, tergantung perawatan dan jenis kulitnya,” jelas Yuni.

Pakar ulat sutra itu juga menjelaskan, untuk aplikasi optimal, ekstrak protein kokon dapat ditambahkan ke dalam cream, sabun, tonik, serum, masker maupun face mist.

Dokter spesialis kulit dan kelamin, dr. Fitria Agustina, SpKK, FINSDV menjelaskan, kulit yang sehat dicirikan dengan kulit yang tampak bercahaya, warna kulit merata, terasa kenyal dan halus ketika diraba, dan bebas flek hitam maupun jerawat.

“Kulit yang sehat dapat didapatkan dengan memakai kosmetik yang tepat untuk melindungi kulit, asupan nutrisi yang baik dan seimbang, aktivitas fisik yang dilakukan secara rutin setiap hari sehingga nutrisi dapat terserap optimal ke dalam jaringan kulit, dan tentunya harus bahagia karena bahagia dapat memicu hormon yang baik bagi kesehatan,” pungkasnya. ***
