ZONALITERASI.ID – Salah satu bangunan ikonik di Kota Bandung adalah Pendopo yang sekarang menjadi rumah dinas sekaligus kantor bagi Wali Kota Bandung. Bangunan bersejarah ini berlokasi di Jalan Dalem Kaum.

Konon, berdirinya Pendopo beriringan dengan berdirinya Kota Bandung. Kala itu, Pendopo merupakan bangunan pertama yang menjadi pusat pemerintahan Kabupaten Bandung. Pendopo juga menjadi bangunan pertama yang dibangun di kawasan Alun-alun Bandung.

Seperti pertama kali dibangun, Pendopo berada di kawasan Alun-alun, letaknya berseberangan dengan Alun-alun.

Pendopo mulai dibangun tahun 1811 dan selesai tahun 1812. Pembangunan pendopo diprakarsai oleh Bupati Bandung ke-6, Wiranatakusumah II yang bernama asli Raden Indrareja dan kerap dipanggil Dalem Kaum.

Bupati yang dijuluki The Founding Father inilah yang langsung memilih lokasi pembangunan Pendopo. Ia membangun Pendopo tepat menghadap ke arah Gunung Tangkubanparahu yang merupakan simbol kepercayaan sejarah masyarakat Sunda.

Luas Pendopo 18.984 metr dan terdiri dari beberapa bangunan, yaitu bangunan utama seluas 1.805,25 meter, bangunan pendopo 470 meter, bangunan barat 175 meter, bangunan timur 445 meter, dan halaman seluas 15.475 meter.

Pembangunan Pendopo merupakan satu kesatuan dengan pembangunan Jalan Pos atau Grote Postweg yang dilakukan oleh Gubernur Jendral Daendels.

Saat itu, Pendopo menjadi pusat pemerintahan Bupati Bandung. Semula pusat pemerintahan dipusatkan di Dayeuhkolot (Kota Lama), jaraknya sekitar 10 km dari Jalan Raya Pos yang sedang dibangun.

Pada masa pemerintahan Bupati R.A.A. Wiranatakusumah IV (1846-1874) tahun 1850, bangunan Pendopo direnovasi. Dindingnya diganti dengan tembok bata dan beratap genteng. Tahun 1935, dibangun tempat tinggal bupati di belakang Pendopo yang merupakan hasil rancangan Presiden Soekarno.

Beberapa bangunan pun bertambah, seperti ruang tamu utama, ruang kerja, ruang gudang dalam, ruang tengah, kamar utama, dua kamar keluarga, ruang arab (ruang pertemuan) dan ruang keluarga, serta ruang untuk keluarga Bupati di bagian barat bangunan utama.

Saat ini, Gerbang Pendopo dibuat berupa ornamen beton semen yang juga cukup unik. Di kanan dan kiri gerbang terdapat gambar para Wali Kota Bandung dari masa ke masa. Di halaman Pendopo terdapat dua lonceng ukuran besar yang tergantung pada pilar beton.

Dua lonceng itu pun dibuat simetris, saling berhadapan. Banyak cerita tentang lonceng tersebut, mulai cerita mistis hingga sejarahnya.

Sejak masa pemerintahan Wali Kota Ateng Wahyudi (1983-1993), pendopo kembali menjadi kediaman Wali Kota Bandung. Wali Kota Bandung selanjutnya tinggal di pendopo selama mereka memimpin Kota Bandung, yaitu Wahyu Hamijaya (1993-1998), Aa Tarmana (1998-2003), Dada Rosada (2003-2008 dan 2008-2013), Ridwan Kamil (2013-2018), Oded M. Danial (2013-2018 dan 2018-2021), serta Yana Mulyana (2021-2023).

Hingga saat ini, Pendopo Kota Bandung masih berdiri kokoh dan semakin asri. (des/berbagai sumber)***
