“Sudah mengajukan izin edarnya dan saat ini masih berupa izin edar home industry. Kemudian patennya juga sudah diajukan dan 2020 sudah rilis dengan merk Seledrink,” kata Prof. Taofik saat menjadi pembicara pada diskusi Satu Jam Berbincang Ilmu “Potensi Herba Seledri Sebagai Anti Kalkuli (Batu Ginjal) dan Pengembangan Formulasinya”, dilansir dari laman Unpad, Jumat, 24 November 2023.

Prof. Taofik menuturkan, secara tradisional seledri ini sudah digunakan oleh masyarakat untuk berbagai indikasi seperti tekanan darah tinggi, asam urat, hematuria, serta penyubur rambut.

“Karena masih sedikit sekali pengembangan antikalkuli jadi saya mulai pengembangan dengan metode uji dulu,” kata Prof. Taofik.

Menurut Prof. Taofik, ada beberapa metode yang bisa dipakai untuk membuktikan seledri ini memiliki khasiat antikalkuli atau tidak. Salah satunya adalah metode In Vitro atau uji di tabung reaksi. Metode ini dilakukan dengan cara uji kelarutan komponen batu ginjal pada larutan herbal seledri.

“In Vitro intinya adalah menguji sejauh mana herbal seledri ini bisa melarutkan batu ginjal. Indikatornya adalah kadar kalsium (Ca) dan magnesium (Mg) yang terlarut itu sejauh mana,” jelasnya.

Prof. Taofik mengatakan, metode In Vivo merupakan uji pada hewan percobaan, yaitu kepada tikus atau mencit. Dari kedua metode ini, Prof. Taofik mendapatkan kesimpulan bahwa dari hasil In Vitro, infus seledri di atas kadar 10% dapat melarutkan komponen batu secara signifikan.

Sedangkan pada sediaan ekstrak dengan konsentrasi di atas 3% dapat melarutkan komponen batu ginjal lebih besar secara signifikan.

Selain itu, ada pula hasil uji pada metode In Vivo yang dilakukan dengan cara memberikan ekstrak seledri kepada hewan percobaan. Pada dosis 10mg/100g bb tikus, Ca yang terlarut itu signifikan dibandingkan kontrol negatifnya. Untuk dosis 20mg/100g bb tikus juga menunjukan angka yang lebih signifikan.

“Ini artinya semakin besar dosis yang diberikan maka kemampuan melarutkan Ca-nya lebih tinggi juga,” jelasnya.

Pembentukan Batu Ginjal

Prof. Taofik menjelaskan, batu ginjal tidak terbentuk dalam waktu yang cepat. Ada beberapa tahapan yang terjadi dalam pembentukan batu ginjal. Mulai dari pembentukan inti, pertumbuhan, aggregasi, sampai akhirnya terbentuk retensi batu. Apabila ukuran batu yang berbentuk tajam dan keras ini masih relatif kecil, maka akan masuk ke dalam saluran ureter jika terbawa oleh air. Namun, ketika ukurannya sudah cukup besar dan turun melalui ureter, dapat menyebabkan luka serta rasa sakit yang luar biasa.

“Ada banyak faktor yang menjadi penyebab dari munculnya batu ginjal. Salah satunya adalah kurangnya jumlah air yang masuk ke dalam tubuh. Vitamin C yang dosisnya terlalu tinggi dan dikonsumsi terus-menerus harus diwaspadai karena metabolisme dari Vitamin C ini akan menjadi oksalat juga. Kemudian bertemu dengan kalsium maka akan menjadi kalsium oksalat (jenis batu ginjal),” terangnya. (des)***
