ZONALITERASI.ID – Perguruan tinggi adalah pelabuhan pendidikan jenjang tertinggi yang ditempuh. Oleh sebab itu tidak jarang orang memilih perguruan tinggi terbaik untuk menunjang masa depannya.

Tak ada yang salah dengan mempersiapkan bakal perguruan tinggi terbaik untuk menempuh pendidikan. Salah satu persiapan yang harus dilakukan yaitu mengenal model-model perguruan tinggi.

Ada banyak model pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia, di antaranya universitas, insititut, sekolah tinggi, politeknik, dan akademi.

Universitas

Universitas menyelenggarakan pendidikan berbasis akademik dan vokasi

Universitas terdiri dari beberapa fakultas yang menyelenggarakan pendidikan akademik dan/atau pendidikan vokasi dengan sejumlah ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, atau seni.

Contohnya:

A. Ilmu Kebumian
B. Ilmu Alam
C. Ilmu Kimia
D. Ilmu Angkasa
E. Ilmu Biologi
F. Ilmu Fisika

2.Rumpun Ilmu Terapan
A. Pertanian
B. Arsitektur dan Perencanaan
C. Bisnis

Kampus dengan model universitas di Indonesia, antara lain Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Univeristas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Negeri Padang, dan masih banyak lagi.

Institut

Hampir sama dengan universitas, insititut juga menyelenggarakan pendidikan berbasis akademik dan vokasi. Perbedaannya terletak pada fakultasnya. Kalau di institut, fakultas-fakultasnya berasal dari satu jenis keilmuan saja.

Contohnya, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) hanya mengarah pada rumpun ilmu alam. Sehingga, fakultas-fakultas di ITB hanya berkaitan dengan ilmu alam, contoh:

– Fakultas Ilmu Angkasa/Antariksa
– Fakultas Ilmu Biologi
– Fakultas Ilmu Kimia
– Fakultas Ilmu Fisika
– Fakultas Ilmu Kebumian

Kampus dengan model Institut di Indonesia: ITB, Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Institut Pemerintahan Dalam Negeri (IPDN), Institut Teknologi, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Institut Kesenian Jakarta (IKJ, dan masih banyak lagi.

Sekolah Tinggi

Sekolah tinggi hampir sama dengan universitas dan institut. Perbedaannya ialah sekolah tinggi hanya terdiri dari satu fakultas, dan terbagi menjadi beberapa jurusan yang berkaitan dengan fakultas tersebut.

Kampus dengan model sekolah tinggi di Indonesia antara lain: Sekolah Tinggi Pertanahan Nasional (STPN), Sekolah Tinggi Transportasi Darat (STTD), Sekolah Tinggi Sandi Negara (STSN), Sekolah Tinggi Penerbangan Indonesia (STPI), dan masih banyak lagi.

Politeknik

Politeknik ialah perguruan tinggi yang hanya menyediakan pendidikan berbasis vokasi sehingga politeknik tidak menyelenggarakan pendidikan akademik.

Politeknik memiliki visi dan misinya sendiri menyiapkan peserta didiknya menjadi lulusan dengan kemampuan profesional yang mampu menerapkan, mengembangkan, dan menyebarluaskan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, agar bisa bersaing dengan para lulusan di perguruan tinggi di dunia pekerjaan.

Kampus dengan model politeknik di Indonesia, antara lain: Politeknik Negeri Jakarta (PNJ), Politeknik Negeri Bandung (Polban), Politeknik Negeri Media Kreatif (Polmed), Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya, Politeknik Negeri Bali, dan masih banyak lagi.

Akademi

Akademi juga hampir sama dengan politeknik. Akademi adalah perguruan tinggi dengan hanya menyelenggarakan pendidikan berbasis vokasi yang terdiri satu atau sebagian cabang ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, atau seni tertentu.

Perbedaan antara akademi dan politeknik ialah jika politeknik menyelenggarakan pendidikan vokasi yang berasal dari beberapa rumpun ilmu. Sedangkan akademi hanya menyelenggarakan pendidikan vokasi dari satu cabang ilmu.

Kampus dengan model akademi di Indonesia misalnya: Akademi Gizi Surabaya, Akademi Minyak dan Gas Bumi (Akamigas-STEM), Akademi Kimia Analis Jawa Barat, Akademi Ilmu Pemasyarakatan Jakarta, Akademi Meteorologi dan Geofisika (AMG), Akademi Kepolisian Republik Indonesia (Akpol), Akademi Militer Republik Indonesia (Akmil), dan masih banyak lagi.
