Reaktualisasi Pengembangan Pendidikan Agama Islam di Sekolah Umum

EKSISTENSI Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) tidak bisa dipandang sebelah mata, mengingat tanggung jawab dan peran tersebut tidaklah ringan. Berbagai kenakalan remaja dengan variannya merupakan beban berat PAI di sekolah. Perilaku kenakalan remaja tersebut mayoritas adalah siswa yang belajar di sekolah umum. PAI di sekolah menanggung beban berat untuk menunjukan eksistensinya dalam membentuk peserta didik yang cerdas dan berkepribadian. Berbagai kenakalan remaja merupakan pekerjaan rumah yang sampai saat ini masih terus dibina melalui pendidikan agama Islam.

Problem kenakalan remaja tidak hanya terjadi di kota-kota besar tetapi sampai ke pelosok kota kecil. Kenakalan remaja semakin menjadi-jadi, perilaku menyimpang dilakukan secara terang-terangan, tidak hanya malam hari tetapi juga siang hari. Peran PAI masih mendapatkan kritik dari berbagai pihak, perannya dipertanyakan. Dengan segala keterbatasannya, PAI di sekolah dituntut untuk dapat mewarnai karakter siswa yang ada di sekolah umum. Keterbatasan jam pelajaran PAI merupakan masalah klasik yang terus diutarakan. PAI masih dianggap kurang menarik, faktor penyebab di samping guru menggunakan cara belajar yang konservatif, materi yang disampaikan tidak kontekstual, sehingga menyebabkan siswa merasa jenuh.

Amin Abdullah seorang pemikir Islam melontarkan pandangannya; pertama PAI masih berorientasi pada teori dan normatif agama, kedua tidak mengubah kognisi menjadi makna dan nilai, ketiga tidak diperkaya metode mengatasi perilaku negatif, keempat metodologi pengajaran masih antara pra dan post modernitas, kelima masih bersifat korespondensi tekstual dan hafalan, keenam penilaian ujian masih lebih mengutamakan aspek kognisi.

Selanjutnya pengamat pendidikan, Mochtar Buchori, juga memberikan kritik terhadap proses pendidikan agama Islam yaitu pertama guru PAI bersikap eksklusif, kedua kegiatan PAI tidak integratif, ketiga materi PAI tidak integratif dengan disiplin ilmu lain.

Dari berbagai kritik tersebut yang paling banyak dikeluhkan oleh praktisi PAI di sekolah adalah minimnya jam pelajaran. Berbagai kritik terhadap PAI di sekolah harus ditanggapai positif oleh para pelaksana, berbagai kekurangan harus disiasati dengan berbagai cara untuk mengatasi persoalan yang ada. Kekurangan jam pelajaran di sekolah bukan menjadi alasan yang dapat mengurangi kualitas PAI di sekolah.

Solusi yang paling baik untuk mengatasi kekurangan jam pelajaran di sekolah adalah guru harus dapat mengembangkan PAI di luar jam pelajaran resmi. Berbagai kegiatan keagamaan yang dapat mendukung tercapainya tujuan pendidikan Islam di sekolah harus dikembangkan sebanyak mungkin. Hal tersebut tidak hanya menjadi tugas dari guru PAI, tetapi menjadi tanggung jawab semua komponen sekolah (school community).

Pengembangan ekstrakurikuler PAI adalah langkah yang penting untuk mengatasi permasalahan kekurangan jam pelajaran. Seperti yang dikatakan pakar pendidikan Islam Abuddin Nata bahwa salah satu penentu keberhasilan PAI adalah banyaknya pelaksanaan ekstrakurikuler PAI di sekolah. Selain itu pihak sekolah juga harus menciptakan hidden curriculum dengan cara menciptakan suasana islami yang kondusif dan dapat mendukung proses pembelajaran PAI di sekolah.

Direktorat PAIS bekerja sama dengan KKG PAI, AGPAII, dan pihak terkait mempunyai program yang sangat baik untuk mendukung PAI yaitu pentas keterampilan dan seni PAI. Program tersebut merupakan program rutin tahunan yang dilaksanakan oleh para guru PAI melalui KKG atau MGMP, mulai tingkat gugus, kecamatan, kab/kota, provinsi hingga tingkat nasional yang dilaksanakan dua tahun sekali.

Pentas tersebut merupakan sarana untuk evaluasi PAI di sekolah umum bagi guru dan para siswa sejauh mana keberhasilannya. Pentas PAI adalah Pekan Keterampilan dan Seni PAI yang melombagakan 7 bidang PAI, beregu dan perorangan putra/putri yang meliputi LCC PAI, gerakan dan bacaan sholat berjamaah, qasidah rebana, tahfidz, MTQ, Pildacil, dan Kaligrafi. Berbagai lomba tersebut merupakan atmosfer positif untuk mengasah kemampuan para siswa dalam menyerap dan mengamalkan PAI. Pelaksanaan kegiatan tersebut merupakan upaya dalam menguatkan PAI di sekolah yang selama ini dianggap belum memberikan kontribusi yang berarti bagi umat Islam. Dengan adanya pentas seperti ini, syiar Islam di sekolah umum dapat terlihat dan merupakan sarana untuk menanamkan pengamalan PAI sejak dini.

Kesuksesan PAI di sekolah umum menjadi tanggung jawab semua pihak, baik Kementerian Agama, pemerintah daerah maupun para pelaksana di lapangan. Seperti yang dikatakan oleh Abdul Madjid, Guru Besar UPI Bandung, bahwa keberhasilan pembelajaran PAI di sekolah umum ditentukan oleh pertama penentu kebijakan (pemerintah dan DPR/DPRD), kedua kepala sekolah, ketiga guru stakeholders, keempat kurikulum serta sarana dan prasarana, kelima kesiapan peserta didik dan keenam ketauladanan dari semua pihak.

Program Pentas PAI harus terus dilaksanakan dan dikembangkan di sekolah umum sebagai bentuk ihtiar dalam penguatan syiarnya. Selain itu, program pentas PAI juga harus didukung oleh para stakeholder terkait. Dengan adanya sinergi dari berbagai pihak, mudah-mudahan segala macam problemtika dan kekurangan PAI di sekolah dapat sedikit teratasi. Segala macam bentuk perilaku menyimpang yang dilakukan para pelajar di sekolah dapat terkurangi. Pada dasarnya menciptakan generasi yang berkarakter merupakan tanggung jawab kita bersama bukan hanya sekolah dan juga bukan hanya tanggung jawab guru PAI semata.***
