ZONALITERASI.ID – Dalam sebuah jurnal CyberPsychology berjudul “Social media addiction: Its impact, mediation, and intervention”, disebutkan bahwa kecanduan media sosial dapat dilihat sebagai salah satu bentuk kecanduan internet, di mana individu menunjukkan dorongan untuk menggunakan media sosial secara berlebihan.

Individu dengan kecanduan media sosial seringkali terlalu khawatir tentang media sosial dan didorong oleh dorongan tak terkendali untuk masuk dan menggunakan media sosial.

Penelitian telah menunjukkan bahwa gejala kecanduan media sosial dapat diwujudkan dalam suasana hati, kognisi, reaksi fisik dan emosional, serta masalah interpersonal dan psikologis.

Telah dilaporkan bahwa kecanduan media sosial mempengaruhi sekitar 12% pengguna di seluruh situs jejaring sosial.

Banyak penelitian tentang penggunaan media sosial dan mental kesehatan telah menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media sosial yang berkepanjangan terkait dengan masalah kesehatan mental seperti stres, kecemasan, dan depresi dan terkait negatif dengan kesejahteraan jangka panjang.

Tidak hanya berkaitan dengan kesehatan mental, penggunaan media sosial tertentu juga telah terbukti berhubungan dengan penurunan prestasi akademik.

Sebuah penelitian Lau tahun 2017 menyebutkan bahwa waktu yang dihabiskan siswa di media sosial (Facebook) berhubungan negatif dengan total IPK mereka.

Eksperimen laboratorium telah memberikan bukti lebih lanjut untuk hubungan negatif antara penggunaan media sosial dan hasil akademik.

Dalam penelitian lain tahun 2012, misalnya, menunjukkan bahwa multi-tasking melalui pesan teks, email, hingga Facebook memiliki efek negatif pada kinerja pembelajaran real-time.

Tanda-tanda Kecanduan Media Sosial

Dalam berbagai penelitian, seseorang yang kecanduan media sosial memiliki tanda-tanda sebagai berikut, dikutip dari Medical News Today.

1. Perasaan memiliki lingkungan sosial seperti komunitas dan inklusi ditemukan secara online.

2. Memandang kehidupan yang ideal sesuai kebiasaan influencer.

3. Takut ketinggalan interaksi (FOMO) antar teman-teman.

4. Pengalihan dari stres kehidupan nyata.

5. Kurangnya makna hubungan penuh di dunia nyata, entah dengan keluarga atau teman dekat.

6. Merasa sedang berjuang dengan kesehatan mental.

Secara keseluruhan, kecanduan media sosial dihubungkan dengan daya tarik media sosial itu sendiri. Di satu sisi, kontennya sendiri memiliki daya tarik yang kuat. Di sisi lain, konten media sosial dapat mengalihkan perhatian dari masalah dan kekurangan di dunia nyata.

Maka dari itu, cara utama untuk mengidentifikasi kecanduan media sosial adalah ketika kita menyadari bahwa hal itu mulai berdampak pada bidang kehidupan lainnya.

Ketika penggunaan media sosial dan ponsel cerdas menyebabkan berkurangnya waktu bersama teman dan keluarga, belajar, berolahraga, dan aktivitas kehidupan lainnya, ini merupakan indikasi yang baik bahwa seseorang telah mengembangkan ketergantungan yang tidak sehat pada media sosial.

Adapun tanda-tanda yang harus diperhatikan untuk mengidentifikasi apakah kita mengalami kecanduan media sosial atau tidak, adalah sebagai berikut.

– Terlalu banyak menghabiskan waktu di media sosial.

– Kurangnya atau pengurangan waktu yang dihabiskan bersama teman dan keluarga.

– Banyak melewatkan acara sosial.

– Kehilangan minat pada hobi sebelumnya.

– Pengurangan olahraga dan aktivitas lainnya.

– Nilai buruk atau prestasi kerja.

– Keterikatan yang kuat dengan smartphone.

– Kecemasan saat ponsel dilupakan atau diambil oleh orang tua.

– Penarikan emosional.

Cara Mengurangi Penggunaan Media Sosial

1. Analisa media sosial atau aplikasi mana yang paling sering dipakai atau dihabiskan (dalam jumlah jam). Ketahui alasannya dan mulai lakukan pengurangan penggunaan setiap harinya.

2. Jika di hari pertama sangat bosan dan cemas, cobalah untuk membuat daftar agenda bersama teman atau sekadar membaca buku dan belajar hal baru.

3. Pada waktu tertentu, seperti saat bersama keluarga atau teman, tinggalkan telepon dan fokuslah untuk saling berkomunikasi tatap muka.

4. Jelang waktu tidur, jauhkan ponsel dari tempat tidur.

5. Unduh aplikasi yang dapat membatasi waktu penggunaan media sosial.

6. Temukan hobi baru yang tidak membutuhkan penggunaan layar.

7. Matikan notifikasi semua apikasi kecuali yang penting, seperti email atau yang berhubungan dengan hal penting lain

8. Hapus semua teman dan pengikut yang tidak mereka kenal di kehidupan nyata.

9. Abaikan pesan negatif ketika sedang menggunakan media sosial.

10. Jika merasa sangat kesulitan mengurangi penggunaan media sosialnya sendiri, mungkin bisa berkonsultasi dengan ahli kesehatan mental. (des)***
