Membangun Literasi Keluarga untuk Memperkuat Pendidikan Karakter Siswa

PENDIDIKAN karakter menjadi trendsetter sekarang ini. Melalui penguatan pendidikan karakter diharapkan akan lahir generasi yang berbudi pekerti luhur, berahlak mulia, cinta tanah air, religius, mandiri, mampu bekerja sama, dan mempunyai integritas tinggi. Kerja sama yang harmonis antara keluarga, sekolah, dan masyarakat, akan mempermudah tercapainya tujuan pendidikan karakter, tumbuhnya kembali kepribadian bangsa Indonesia yaitu kepribadian yang sesuai dengan nilai luhur Pancasila sebagai falsafah hidup bangsa, yang sekarang ini sudah mulai pudar dan terlupakan.

Penguatan pendidikan karakter tidak terjadi dengan sendirinya, melainkan harus dibentuk, dilatih, dan dikelola secara bertahap. Pembentukan karakter tanggung jawab bersama, semua unsur harus memiliki komitmen yang kuat untuk mendukung terhadap terwujudnya pendidikan karakter. Pendidikan karakter akan berjalan dan menjadi kuat jika ketiga komponen keluarga, sekolah, dan masyarakat berjalan dengan harmonis dan berkesinambungan. Sinergi dari tiga komponen di atas akan mempermudah dan mempercepat terwujudnya tujuan dari pendidikan karakter yang diharapkan oleh pemerintah.

Salah satu program penguatan pendidikan karakter adalah melalui kegiatan literasi. Pemerintah beberapa tahun terakhir ini gencar mengkampanyekan Gerakan Literasi Nasional. Dengan penguatan literasi diharapkan dapat menumbuhkan karakter positif. Namun lagi-lagi gerakan literasi tidak mungkin bisa tercapai tanpa dukungan dari keluarga sekolah dan masyarakat. Ke tiga komponen tersebut menjadi ujung sentral suksesnya tujuan kegiatan literasi yang akan menopang pada keberhasilan penguatan pendidikan karakter.

Keluarga adalah unit terkecil dari masyarakat yang berpengaruh pada pembentukan karakter anak karena di dalamnya terikat oleh ikatan emosi dalam pertalian darah yang kuat. Keluarga yang harmonis, bahagia menjadi penopang kokohnya berdiri suatu bangsa. Komunikasi yang harmonis merupakan salah satu pendukung keharmonisan suatu keluarga. Fondasi keluarga yang kuat dapat menjadi pendukung kokohnya suatu bangsa.

Menuju keluarga yang harmonis tentunya harus diperjuangkan oleh seluruh anggota keluarga, tidak bisa berjalan dengan sendirinya. Semua anggota keluarga terutama ayah dan ibu yang menjadi panutan dalam keluarga harus terus menerus meningkatkan kompetensi dirinya. Sayang sampai hari ini tidak ada sekolahan untuk berumah tangga. Sekolah rumah tangga adalah dengan melakukan perbaikan-perbaikan diri setiap hari. Orang tua sebagai panutan di keluarga harus terus-menerus belajar, belajar dan terus belajar.

Belajar sepanjang hayat untuk mencetak generasi masa depan yang lebih baik, karena keluarga adalah tempat sekolah pertama bagi seorang manusia. Oleh karena itu keluarga sebagai lingkungan pembentukan dan pendidikan karakter pertama dan utama harus lebih diberdayakan. Keluarga bisa menjadi tempat belajar yang penuh cinta sejati dan kasih sayang bagi seluruh anggotanya. Terutama peran Ayah dan Ibu sangat berpengaruh besar terhadap pembentukan karakter seorang anak, apalagi ibu.

Ibu bisa dikatakan sekolah pertama bagi seorang manusia. Seperti diungkapkan oleh salah satu tokoh pahlawan Indonesia RA Kartini “Dari perempuanlah manusia itu pertama-tama menerima pendidikan. di pangkuan perempuanlah seseorang mulai belajar merasa, berpikir, dan berkata-kata”. Dari pendapat tersebut bisa dikatakan bahwa perempuan/ibu adalah sekolah pertama bagi anak-anaknya. Betapa kuatnya peranan ibu dalam membentuk karakter anak. Baik buruknya suatu negara ditopang oleh keluhuran budi pekerti wanita, maka tak perlu lagi diragukan bahwa “Wanita adalah tiang negara, apabila wanita itu baik maka akan baiklah negara dan apabila wanita itu rusak, maka akan rusak pula negara”.

Begitu kuatnya pengaruh wanita terhadap pembentukan karakter, untuk itu dalam keluarga seorang ibu dengan dibimbing oleh suami sebagai kepala keluarga, harus terus belajar untuk meningkatkan pengetahuannya. Arti belajar di sini bukan berarti harus menempuh pendidikan formal, dengan terus menambah wawasan dan ilmu pengetahuan, salah satunya adalah dengan membaca buku yang berkualitas.

Untuk meningkatkan minat baca tersebut, Pemerintah melalui Kemendikbudristek terus menerus mendorong dan mengembangkan minat baca, melalui Gerakan Literasi Sekolah, keluarga, dan masyarakat. Gerakan yang dilakukan secara masif oleh pemerintah sudah seharusnya mendapatkan dukungan dari setiap kelurga. Kegiatan literasi keluarga diharapkan dapat mewujudkan keluarga hebat dan cerdas, sehingga dapat terwujud insan-insan masa depan yang berkarakter baik.

Untuk meningkatkan minat baca keluarga bisa dilakukan dengan cara berbagai cara, di antaranya sebagai berikut:

1. Memberikan contoh. Memberikan contoh adalah langkah konkret yang baik kepada anak, semakin banyak kita melakukan perbuatan baik di hadapan anak-anak mereka akan meniru dan melakukan apa yang kita lakukan.

2. Membaca buku yang baik. Orang tua bisa menjadi filter dalam menyajikan buku-buku yang berkualitas pada anak-anak.

3. Memulai sejak dini. Mulailah anak mencintai buku sesuai dengan usia dan minatnya.

4. Menjalin komunikasi. Luangkanlah waktu untuk menjalin komunikasi dengan semua anggota keluarga. Bisa melalui cara mendongeng kepada anak, menceritakan kembali buku yang sudah dibaca kepada anak. Itu selain menambah wawasan juga menambah keakraban dengan semua anggota keluarga. Komunikasi yang baik akan mempermudah orang tua mengetahui kondisi anak-anaknya.

5. Menciptakan lingkungan yang ramah literasi. Salah satu cara menciptakan lingkungan keluarga ramah dengan literasi adalah menata rak-rak buku baik di kamar pribadi maupun di ruangan keluarga. Jadikan buku barang yang mudah dilihat dan diambil oleh siapapun. Upaya ini akan menarik anggota keluarga untuk membaca buku.

6. Menyisihkan pendapatan untuk membeli buku. Sisihkan dana bulanan yang didapatkan untuk membeli buku, dan ajaklah anak anak telibat dalam menilih buku yang disukai oleh mereka.

7. Mengajak ke perpustakaan/taman bacaan masyarakat terdekat. Jalan jalan ke perpustakaan ataupun museum bisa dijadikan alternatif untuk mengisi liburan anggota keluarga. Jalan-jalan ke perpustakaan bisa menjadi salah satu wisata yang cerdas untuk menumbuhkan minat baca anggota keluarga.

8. Memberikan hadiah berupa buku. Membiasakan memberian hadiah buku kepada anggota keluarga bisa menjadi jalan untuk menumbuhkan minat baca anggota keluarga.

Kegiatan sederhana di atas jika terus-menerus dilakukan akan menunjang terhadap Gerakan Literasi Nasional yang sedang digalakkan oleh pemerintah. Apalagi jika terdapat sinergitas yang kuat antara keluarga, sekolah, dan masyarakat, maka apa yang menjadi tujuan dari gerakan penguatan pendidikan karakter melalui kegiatan literasi akan cepat tercapai.

Semoga suatu hari nanti masyarakat kita akan menjadi masyarakat yang literat dan masyarakat yang madani, yaitu masyarakat yang selalu memelihara perilaku yang baik, menjaga sopan santun, berbudaya tinggi, sejahtera lahir dan bathin. Salah satu upayanya melalui gerakan literasi yang sekarang sedang digalakan.***
