ZONALITERASI.ID – Bandwidth adalah jumlah maksimum data yang dikirimkan melalui koneksi internet dalam jangka waktu tertentu. Mengutip paessler, istilah bandwidth mengacu pada kapasitas transmisi koneksi, faktor penting ketika menentukan kualitas dan kecepatan jaringan atau koneksi internet.

Namun, dirilis laman Verizon, bandwidth sering disalahartikan sebagai kecepatan internet. Padahal, bandwidth merupakan volume informasi yang dapat dikirim melalui koneksi dalam jumlah waktu yang terukur.

Ada beberapa cara berbeda untuk mengukur bandwidth. Beberapa pengukuran digunakan untuk menghitung aliran data, sementara yang lain mengukur aliran maksimum, aliran tipikal, atau aliran yang dianggap baik.

Bandwidth juga merupakan konsep kunci di beberapa bidang teknologi lainnya. Dalam pemrosesan sinyal, misalnya, bandwith digunakan untuk menggambarkan perbedaan antara frekuensi atas dan bawah dalam sebuah transmisi seperti sinyal radio dan biasanya diukur dalam hertz (Hz).
